"Well, you know, we have teenagers..." It's a typical parental "explanation" about why life is difficult with kids age 13 - 19 in the home. Just as common as the famous eye roll that teens do to express their dismay or disgust.
I'm finding having teens at home quite fun!
They tear me away from my pre-decided goals, for a shopping trip to Nordstrom's Rack or a jaunt to the beach. When I've resisted their ideas, their sense of what's important, I've not only missed out on not only pleasure, but connection with them.
So though it's labor day and I'd love to get more stuff back into my kitchen cabinets (still doing the remodel and waiting for countertops), I'm going to stop being a "stick in the mud" and go with the flow - my 17 year old's flow.
