A bad back can make you tired. Mine flared up two weeks and two days ago, just from bending over to pick something small and light from the floor. A ripping sensation came and I knew immediately that this was big. Diagnosis by my chiropractor told me that this was a flareup of an area that first acted up almost 20 years ago when I was carrying daily in front of me eighteen pounds (my first born).
Acupuncture treatments have helped immense with this. The massage plus needles inserted to stir up circulation and other parts of my system leave me feel limp and ready to fall into bed. My general doctor confirmed that the medical establishment is giving more and more credence to acupuncture. My very own clinic, is searching for an acupuncturist to join its staff. Stanford Hospital already has an MD who's also an acupuncturist.
But time and money don't allow me to go see the acupuncturist daily, so I use ice and take frequent breaks from whatever position I'm in.
Plus ultra sound, courtesy of first my chiropractor and now my PT (physical therapist), also help. But it's hard to figure out, even more remember, what to do, what to avoid.
On Tuesday I came away from my PT pain free, but within two hours was again in pain. Perhaps because I ate lunch at a restaurant with awful chairs - no lower back support-- or because I carried the heavy purse of a nauseated friend and let her learn on me while we went to the car. Or was it because I walked on uneven streets at a fast pace for an hour afterward? Walking is supposed to be good for the back, but perhaps I used wrong mechanics?
I'll bring my questions to my PT next week.
